Media Department's mission: to contribute to the development of an open, participatory, pluralistic and value-based society in Republic of Moldova by organizing, supporting and financing activities aimed at encouraging the development of an independent media sector and improving access to information.

Program mission:

The mission of the Media Program is to contribute to the development of an open, participatory, pluralistic and value-based society in Republic of Moldova by organizing, supporting and financing activities aimed at encouraging the development of an independent media sector and improving access to information.

 

For 2014-2017 the strategy of Soros Foundation - Moldova in media sector aims to promote independent and pluralistic media as a key-factor in strengthening democracy. 

 

The implementation strategy of the Media Program is based on 3 main objectives:

 

Objective 1. Monitoring the informational products delivered to the citizens by local media for identifying negative tendencies that influence diversity and objectivity of information.

Objective 2. Creating favorable conditions for encouraging professional competition, quality standards and dissemination of information and good-practices through an exchange of ideas and experiences aiming for unbiased, objective and ethic journalism.

Objective 3. Supporting professional investigation journalism by establishing an on-line archive of accessible relevant video and audio materials produced by local broadcasters.

 

IMPLEMENTING PROJECTS:

Strengthening the capacity of local Moldovan media to deliver objective information on democratic development and EU Association Agreement (2014-2016) supported by U.S. Department of State
