Public Health 2019

Palliative care is a holistic approach to health care that improves the quality of life of patients facing a life- threatening illness and their families through proper management of symptoms, and addressing psychosocial, legal and spiritual needs. The Public Health Department supports activities that contribute to integrating palliative care into the health system and ensuring equitable access of the population to these services.

In 2020, the Department is committed to continuing its contribution to the realization of the highest attainable standard of health and well-being of people in need of palliative care. To that aim, we will:

  1. support advocacy activities for palliative care strengthening in the Republic of Moldova, and initiatives contributing to an increased accountability in the health sector
  2. provide support for the implementation of palliative care evaluation reports’ recommendations (launched in 2019).
